This one’s entitled 2015 and just like all the rest, it will start with aspirations. For some of us, there will be new challenges, such as running your first 5K, half, or full marathon. But for the vast majority, I’ll bet it’ll be more like “This year I really am going to lose that weight!” Or quit smoking, or get organized. Irrespective of which category your resolution falls in, I want you to know that I am cheering for you. Good luck! Here at The Engineer Guy, we’ve begun 2015 in a new space. Many of you got to watch this transition. Over the course of the month of December, we packed up everything and literally wheeled it down the parking lot to the suite on the south end of the same building. Sounds easy? It wasn’t. I think the mindset was well-intentioned. After all, it was simply down the parking lot. We didn’t really need to organize, did we? Nah. Please. Don’t ever not organize. Bad idea. Moral of story: I am NEVER EVER moving this business again. Now for the good stuff. We did it! No, it’s still not organized as we want it to be, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel and things are starting to make sense. That having been said, let me cover a few of what I know will be questions you want answers to: Where is it? Our new space is literally the south end of the same building we were in before. It’s Suite 1011 instead of 1003. And yes. The sign is out. How much bigger is it? The old space was about five thousand square feet, with about a thousand of that dedicated to the retail store. Total size for the new operation is 14,400 square feet, and the retail area makes up about three thousand square feet. Our workshop space in the old shop was around four hundred square feet. We have two spaces now, the smallest about six hundred and the big one at about twelve hundred. Are you going to add more products? Yes. We have plans to increase the range for both the molding and casting side, and for the makeup side. Are you going to have more classes? With all this space available to us, yes indeed! Not only will we add our own classes, but we will also make the rooms available to those of you who need to host your own meetings. Just don’t blow anything up. We’re expecting a good year and many more to come, thanks to you folks. Please let us know what you think, and how we can be of greater assistance to you going forward. We have finally moved into our new space! We are still in the very same building but just a new suite. Our new address is: 1000 Tradeport Blvd Suite 1011 Atlanta, GA 30354. We will be doing a grand re-opening soon so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime come see what going from 5,000 square feet to 14,500 square feet looks like! The Engineer Guy's New Location By TEG_WPAdmin Folks, we’re delighted to report that the big space at the end of our building has become available. A deal has been struck and we’re moving in! And before you fret about finding the new spot, cool your jets. It’s literally in the same building, but on the south end. Simple adjustment. Park sooner. It’s a little bigger.. About 3X. We’re also tripling the size of the retail area and putting in a 1200 SF classroom space with way more toys. Watch for progress, and Nelson also promises we’ll be having spot sales this month to reduce the amount of stuff we have to move. Thanks, folks. We’re growing because of you! Posted in: The Engineer Guy News June 26, 2014 An Interview with FACE OFF’s Tyler Green! By TEG_WPAdmin We at The Engineer Guy are super excited to have Tyler Green joining us for Goo-Con 2014! You may know Tyler from SyFy’s FACE OFF Season 6 where placed first runner-up to Rashaad Santiago. Green hails from Litchfield, Conneticut and is excited to join the Goo-Con team! The Engineer Guy: What is your go-to product? Tyler Green: My product of choice is anything from Smooth-On! That company has a endless variety of materials for so many different applications. TEG: Do you have a preferential medium you like to work in? (silicone appliances, foam latex, etc?) TG: I challenge myself with realism and for me silicone is my medium of choice. Although foam latex can sometimes be more cost affective it does not have skin like or translucent properties that silicone has. TEG: What inspires you as an artist?/where do you draw your creativity from? TG: Anything, anytime everywhere an idea will pop into my head and I would have the ability to run with it. Film and TV or being surrounded by other creative people gets the sparks going as well. TEG: How did you get into this field? TG: At a very young age I would create things out of materials I would find around me. Discovering new materials and taking references from a film or creature that coughs my eye I would inspire me to create my own. TEG: Who is/are your idols/mentors? TG: My grandfather was the first person i idolized. He was an inventive person and could also create anything. Industry wise Rick Baker for me is still my idol. I was also surprised to get a tweet from him telling me I am “kicking ass” on the show. That was a great day for me! TEG: Any advice for someone looking to make a career out of SFX and makeup? TG: Stay creative, stay positive and always know your anatomy. Second criticism is just someone else’s perspective. don’t take to heart take it as a compliment maybe they saw something you didn’t. TEG: What does your workshop/studio/workspace look like? TG: It’s small but it works. I would eventually like to expand. TEG: What is your favorite part of your job? TG: Creating and coming up with new and inventive ideas. TEG: Do you have any exciting projects coming up? TG: I have a product I am launching soon!
